United Way Announces $909,000 Campaign Goal

The annual community campaign for United Way of Madison County officially launched Tuesday, September 15 with a luncheon for volunteers and supporters at 11:30 a.m. at the Anderson Country Club.

 Mike Collette, Anderson University Vice President of Enrollment and United Way Vice-Chair emceed the program that announced the 2009 fund raising goal of $909,000, announced corporate pacesetter campaigns and recognized volunteers who will assist with campaign calls over the next two months. Collette announced the campaign theme “4 for Community,” which asks the community to increase their 2009 pledge by four percent this year to help meet community needs.

 Other team leaders for the campaign are Henry Bird, Corporate Gifts chair; Dr. Gary Brazel, Individual Gifts Chair and Kim Contos, Indiana Derby Gala Auction chair.  Dozens of additional volunteers make up the campaign committee teams.

 Additional campaign activities include LIVE UNITED-The Experience, which will allow high school and college age students an opportunity to learn about volunteer service, through the Volunteer Action Center and social networking opportunities. OPERATION: Weatherization that will send hundreds of volunteers into the community on November 7 to work on approximately 75 energy inefficient homes of the elderly and low income families; and the LIVE UNITED online auction beginning September 18. The final campaign report to the community is tentatively scheduled for December 15.

 

The luncheon was hosted by Anderson Rotary Club.
