Haiti Relief- Give Now

Thursday, January 14, 2010

Disaster knows no national boundaries.  The earthquake that struck Haiti, and the shocking destruction and suffering it delivered to an already impoverished people, has prompted a global outpouring of sympathy, prayers, and financial support.  With an entire city in ruins, and estimates of the dead and missing that run into the tens of thousands, it is also cause for the service community to rally into action once again.

This earthquake was Haiti's Katrina, and in the aftermath of Katrina, the thousands of Americans who stepped forward to serve brought vital hope and support to fellow humans suffering tremendous loss and adversity. The citizens of Haiti desperately need a similar response, and ServiceNation is working to help support the relief efforts already underway.

Please support those aid workers who are in Haiti, or traveling there now, as they seek to provide earthquake survivors with direly needed assistance by clicking here (Google Crisis Response), by calling 1-800-REDCROSS or by texting "HAITI" to 90999 to donate $10 to the Red Cross.

People can also text HAITI to 864833 (UNITED) to make a $5 donation to United Way Worldwide’s disaster recovery fund.
