VITA targets individuals with incomes of $15,000 or less in 2009 and no dependents, or incomes of $40,000 or less in 2009 with qualifying dependents. Taxes will be electronically filed and individuals that have an existing checking or savings account may directly deposit their refunds. To make an appointment contact Korryn Davidson at 765-608-3062.

VITA will be held only on Saturday, February 13 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the following locations:

  • St. Vincent Mercy Hospital-Elwood
  • The Wigwam-Anderson
  • The Pendleton Community Public Library
  • Alexandria Community center

“Every year we see a continuous trend for low-income families to rush to rapid refund agencies to get their taxes filed. What many fail to realize is there are fees associated when filing with these types of agencies,” stated Korryn Davidson Activity Coordinator United Way Madison County.  If your household income was less than $48,279 in 2009 you may qualify for the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) and other credits and refunds. EITC could pay you as much as $5,657 based on your earnings and household situation.

Participants must bring:

  • Photo ID, W-2’s and 1099’s
  • Birth dates for tax payer, spouse and dependents
  • Total paid for daycare and the entity’s Social Security number or federal employer ID number
  • A copy of last year’s federal and state tax returns
  • Social Security cards for self, spouse and dependents if applicable
  • Proof of bank account for direct deposit of refund (a voided check or deposit slip) OPTIONAL
  • To file electronically both spouses must be present to sign the required forms

If not able to have taxes done on Saturday February 13th, VITA is available Monday & Tuesday every week from 8:30-11:30a.m. starting February 1st and ending April 12th @ First United Methodist Church located at 1215 Jackson St. in Anderson. Please call for an appointment 765-643-6977.
