Kick off Celebration and Trail Dedication-August 31

The annual campaign for United Way of Madison County will officially launch Tuesday, August 31 with a community barbeque lunch for volunteers and supporters at 11:30 a.m. at Pulaski Park in Anderson. The event will conclude with the dedication of the Anderson Rotary Born Learning Trail, the fifth early learning trail to be installed in Madison County, at 12:45 p.m.
 
Dana Donahue, Old National Bank vice president will oversee the program that will announce the 2010 fund raising goal, announce corporate pacesetter campaigns and recognize volunteers who will assist with campaign calls. Following the kick-off program, Anderson Rotary President Janet Brewer and Anderson Rotarians will take part in the 12:45 p.m. ribbon cutting ceremony that will also include area preschool children and Clifford the Big Red Dog.
 
Other team leaders for the campaign are
Tom VanOsdol, Corporate Gifts chair, and Colin & Kim Contos, Individual Gifts co-chairs. Jim Brown, Deb Rasper and Rick Moore are leading special events.  Dozens of additional volunteers make up the campaign committee teams.
 
Additional campaign activities include the Indiana Derby auction on Saturday, October 2 at Hoosier Park and an online auction in November. The 4th Annual Operation Weatherization will send hundreds of volunteers into the community on November 6 to work on approximately 75 energy inefficient homes of the elderly and low income families.  The final campaign report to the community is tentatively scheduled for December 14.
