Since the March 2008 launch of the United Way of Madison County/FamilyWize Prescription Card, Madison County’s uninsured families have saved over $1 million on the cost of prescription medication.

The FamilyWize prescription discount card offers financial assistance for uninsured residents who would otherwise suffer financial hardship in purchasing their medications. The discount card is free to use, requires no paperwork, can be used at nearly any pharmacy and provides discounts on most prescription medicine. When clients use the card, they will typically save 30 percent or more on the costs of their medication.

Since the program roll out in March 2008 to the end of October 2010, FamilyWize has saved Madison County Residents 1,000,282 dollars on 62,031 total prescriptions worth 2,763,973 dollars. The overall discount percent is 36%, or 16.12 dollars per prescription. In the month of October 2010, Madison County Residents purchased 2,737 prescriptions with a retail price of 105,809 dollars.

Visit the United Way Web site at www.unitedwaymadisonco.org/health or www.FamilyWize.org to print a card, look up drug prices and obtain a list of participating pharmacies. Cards can also be found at participating pharmacies and local Community Access Network partner agencies.
