  • St. Vincent Mercy Hospital-Elwood
  • Anderson Public Library- Anderson
  • Alexandria Community Center- Alexandria

VITA provides low-income families with the opportunity to have their taxes prepared and filed for free.

VITA targets individuals with 2010 incomes of $15,000 or less and no dependents, and households with $40,000 or less income with qualifying dependents. Taxes will be electronically filed and individuals with existing checking or savings accounts may directly deposit their refunds. To make an appointment contact Korryn Davidson at 765-608-3062.

“Every year we see low-income families rush to rapid refund agencies to get their taxes filed. What many fail to realize is there are fees associated when filing with these types of agencies,” stated Korryn Davidson Activity Coordinator United Way Madison County.  If your household income was less than $48,279 in 2010 you may qualify for the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) and other credits and refunds. EITC could pay you as much as $5,657 based on your earnings and household situation.

Participants must bring:

  • Photo ID, W-2’s and 1099’s
  • Birth dates for tax payer, spouse and dependents
  • Total paid for daycare and the entity’s Social Security number or federal employer ID number

  • Social Security cards for self, spouse and dependents if applicable
