Annual Meeting & Volunteer Recognition- March 9
Michael Collette, UWMC board chairperson will emcee United Way of Madison County's Annual Meeting & Volunteer Recognition Wednesday, March 9. The dinner event, which begins at 6 p.m. at The Edgewood Golf & Dining, is open to all donors and volunteers. Cost is $30 per person or $240 for a table of eight. Reservations must be made in advance by calling 643-7493 or by registering online at www.unitedwaymadisonco.org/2011annualmtg. Isaac (Ike) E. Randolph Jr., Executive Director for the Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives (OFBCI) will be the keynote speaker. The agency serves as the liaison between the Office of the Governor and many of Indiana's community and faith-based organizations, volunteer centers, and corporate volunteer councils. Additionally, the agency administers the AmeriCorps*State program for Indiana and manages $10 million in state and federal funds. The primary objective of the OFBCI is to build the capacity and sustainability for grassroots faith-based and community-based organizations. Ike was an Indianapolis firefighter for 22 years, in which his achievements include certifications as a rescue scuba diver, arson investigator, and high rise rope rescue technician. He was also awarded Medals of Merit and Bravery, Public Service Award, the American Red Cross Hall of Fame and the Indianapolis Star’s Man of the Year. In 2008, Ike was appointed by Governor Mitch Daniels to serve as the Executive Director of the OFBCI. United Way’s Annual Meeting & Volunteer Recognition program will also focus on recognition of volunteer leadership within the past year. Awards will be presented to past board members Rich DeHaven, Mike Harris, Duane Hoak and Sandy Volk for their tenure. United Way outgoing officers/committee chairpersons and incoming board members will also be recognized. President Nancy Vaughan will provide an overview of United Way's work on the path to BETTER TOMORROWS within United Way's focus areas of early childhood, safety net services and healthy communities. She will also report on progress made in the areas of Give, Advocate and Volunteer. Business of the Year honors will be awarded and RSVP volunteers will be recognized. Community Hospital Anderson Organizational Trainer and 2010 Volunteer of the Year Michelle Cook will present the 2011 Volunteer of the of the Year award to conclude the program. These annual awards recognize the achievements of outstanding volunteers and businesses that have contributed time, talent and financial support to the community.
