United Way of Madison County encourages community members needing help with tax preparation to seek out Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) programs this season. VITA provides low-income families with the opportunity to have taxes prepared and filed for free and is a program of the Internal Revenue Service.  The Alberta Bowman Tax Center at First United Methodist Church and Anderson University will both offer VITA programs throughout the spring.

VITA will be offered at The Alberta Bowman Tax Center from the end of January until Monday, April 15.  Appointments are on Mondays and Tuesdays from 8:30-11:30 am and can be scheduled by calling 765-643-6977.  Anderson University will be hosting VITA sessions on Thursday evenings from 6:30-8:30 pm until April 11.  Appointments can be scheduled by calling Carol Whetsel at 765-641-4358.  Space is limited and community members are encouraged to call as soon as possible.  In addition to VITA tax preparation, there are additional resources available to the community:

United Way of Madison County supports human services throughout Madison County, Indiana and is governed by a 24 member volunteer board of directors.
