With weeks remaining, United Way of Madison County reports approximately $370,000 in pledges to date – 46% of the $800,091 goal announced in September.

Campaign Chairman Beth Tharp said, "As this year’s United Way campaign nears its end, there are many in our community struggling with poverty who are in need of the vital support and assistance that United Way provides through the THRIVE Network and many other programs. During this holiday season, please take a moment and give what you can. You can make a difference in their lives and in our community."

Funds raised during United Way’s annual campaign will support efforts throughout Madison County to help low-income working people gain skills; struggling families face the unexpected; young children enter kindergarten ready to succeed; uninsured gain access to health insurance, and more.

“There have been many bright spots in the campaign so far this year,” stated Kim Williams, vice president. “NTN Driveshaft conducted its first employee campaign and it was a great success. Several workplace campaigns  - First Merchants, GTI, and Ivy Tech - have increased participation and dollars raised.” She also noted a trend of increased campaigns in local school districts. July’s United Way/Chamber of Commerce Golf Classic brought in more than $40,000 for the two organizations and the annual United Way/Carter Express Human Truck Pull raised over $15,000 for both Madison and Delaware County United Ways.

“There is still time to contribute to this year’s campaign,” urged President Nancy Vaughan. “It’s difficult to project results from the national and regional campaigns at this point, so the more pledges we have in-house before the end of the year, the better we’ll be able to put together our community support budget for 2018.”
